Unlike a short conversation, an examination can continue for many hours and repeatedly revisit names, documents and timelines. The interpreting workflow should support accurate turn-taking and a clear record.
Documents are often central
Counsel may put contracts, emails, medical records, invoices or other exhibits to the witness. Foreign-language exhibits can require written translation in advance so everyone is working from a consistent record.
Remote examinations
Discoveries and depositions can often proceed remotely. Platform instructions, breakout rooms, document-sharing methods and time zones should be confirmed before the date.
Technical subject matter
Personal injury, commercial, construction, employment and other matters can introduce specialized terminology. Identify the field before the interpreter is selected.
What to send when requesting availability or a quote
Provide the examination date, estimated duration, language pair, remote platform or location, matter type and any major categories of documents or expert evidence expected.
